projects/goals

a hand drawn contour map of my hometown that shows memories instead of elevation.

instead of elevation, the y-axis will be a scale of time from childhood to present day. the contour lines will give shape to personal memories of places, objects and locations.

studies and explorations using elements of real dialogue (opt: plotted over time) as a dataset.

  • this starts with obtaining recorded speech conversations and transcribing them.
  • then identifying common speech elements (e.g. stutters, interruptions, um’s…) and extracting the data into a table.
  • still open ended on the next step. possibilities: visualization of multiple conversations overlaid on top of each other across a timeline; comparative analyses of dialogue on different mediums (e.g. instant message, email, internet relay chat)

a way to present both projects with a meaningful context or to attempt to translate them into different media.

possibilities for the latter are playing with elements of craft and sculpture. maybe something interactive, if i can think of something feasible.
